The Curious Rabbit

The Curious Rabbit is for people who are curious about books, music and art. The Curious Rabbit is a cafe, bar, art gallery, second-hand bookshop, and events venue.

We host art classes, live original music in all genres, author talks, open mic nights, environmental talks, craft workshops, drag hosted events and anything else people convince us to try! We are an empty vessel for creative expression. As a cafe and bar we provide artists with an audience whose engagement is either deliberate through ticketing or casual through coffee and cake.

In an ultra conservative regional town we are the safe place for our LGBTQAI+ community in Wagga and surrounds. We host the weekly Alphabet Soup group of young queer teens and  monthly trans social group. At Christmas and Easter we host celebrations for the community in acknowledgement that these times of year can be hard for people if their families are not welcoming of their personal choices.

We have been key to the establishment of a local drag scene hosting 1-2 drag events per month.

The gallery features monthly art exhibitions by local artists who are able to exhibit and sell their work giving them greater exposure than they might have in a traditional gallery.

We are also a safe space for our Wiradjuri community being the headquarters for the Yes23 campaign and producing biannual events to help celebrate the culture.

We prepare cakes and savoury treats on-site as well as support local cooks by stocking their delicious sweets. We also sell a range of jewellery and cards designed and made locally.
